HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-11-18 Canvassing Return Sewer BondTHE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF ERATH CITY OF STEPHENVILLE On this the 18th day of November, 1955, the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened in Called Meeting, at the regular meeting place, with the following members present, to -wit: Henry Clark, Mayor, J. W. Clements, Dean Murray, J. P. Hedrick, J. D. Farr, Jr., Aldermen, Doyle White, Charles Riggins, John Hancock, J. Herman Ferguson, Rex H. Cates, City Secretary, and with the following absent: Dean Murray, Jno. Hancock & J, P, constituting a quorum of the City Council, at which time the following proceedings were had: Alderman Fergusom: introduced a resolution and made a motion that it be adopted. The motion was seconded by Alderman Clements The motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Aldermen Clements, Murray, Hedrick, Farr, White, Riggins, Hancock and Ferguson, and Mayor Clark. NOES: None. The resolution is as follows: RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF AN ELECTION ON THE PROPOSITION OF THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT AND EXTENSION TAX BONDS. WHEREAS, heretofore on the 18th day of October, 1955, the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, adopted a resolution calling an election to be held in said City on the 12th day of November, 1955, on the following proposition: "Shall the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said City in the amount of $150,000.00, maturing serially in such installments as may be fixed by the City Council, the maximum maturity date being not more than Twenty (20) years from their date, and bearing interest at a rate not to exceed Three and one -fourths (3-1/4%) per cent per annum, and to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest as it accrues and principal as it matures on said issue of bonds, for the purpose of improving and extending the Sewer System of said City, as authorized by the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas." WHEREAS, said election was duly held at the time and place specified after due notice as required by law had been given by posting and publication; and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election the following votes: "FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT AND EXTENSION BONDS" 477 Vot "AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT AND EXTENSION BONDS" 191 Votes as is reflected in the election returns heretofore filed with the City Secretary; and WHEREAS, only qualified taxpaying voters owning taxable property in said City and who had duly rendered their property for taxation were allowed to vote; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS: 1. That said election was duly called; that notice was given in nce with law and in accordance with the resolution calling the election; t the election was held in accordance with law; that due return of said has been made by the proper officers; that a majority of the qualified who own taxable property in said City and who have duly rendered the for taxation voting at said election have voted in favor of the issuance said bonds. 2. THE STATE OF ThMS COUNTY OF ERATH CITY OF STEPHENVILLE I, the undersigned, City Secretary of the City of Stephenville, Texas, do hereby certify that the above and foregoing is a true, full and correct copy of a resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas (and of the minutes pertaining thereto) on the 16th day of November, 1955, canvassing returns and declaring results of an election on the proposition of the issuance of $150,000.00 Sewer System Improvement and Extension Tax Bonds, which resolution is duly of record in the minutes of said City Council.
