The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldcrmcr. present: Dear. Murray, Doyle White, Chas. Riggins, Jim Farr, Jno. Hancock, Herman Ferguson, J, C. Clements and J. P. Hedrick. Others present at the meeting were St. Supt. McMahan, Fire Chief McLemore, Chief Moore and City Atty. Chandler. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Messrs, L. B. Howard, Marion Porter and Sam Kelley appeared before the Ceimcil presenting a petition signed by 42 names re- questing the; City to provide a meeting place whereby the elderly men of the City might have some form of recreation program. After some discussion, it was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman Farr, that the City provide the Tax °• Water Dept. office of the old City Hall building for this project, witht he City reserving the right to use this part of the old City Hall during all elections and should the City sell this property it would be vacated as soon as possible. The payment of all electric and as bills to be worked out with the local Lions Club. Motion carried. Fire Chief McLemore discussed with the Council the Fire De- partment's need of two additional paid firemen. This matter was, further discussed and it was suggested that no action be taken at this time, but allow the time from this meeting until the next regular meeting to check into this need, then be discussed again. Alderman Clements reported that he had received several com- plaints about the cement stepss b �the Western Auto Store on E. l�Iashington St., and one by Drug Store on Belknap St., needing to be fixed. This matter was referred to the Street Department, to be worked out by them. Alderman White discussed the Street Department's need of a new dump truck. It was then moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman Hancock, that the Street Committee receive bids for a new 2 Ton Track and Dump Body. Motion carried. Opened at this time were the following bids for a used 30 Watt Radio °- Receiver: 1. Ewell Jones ------- $50.00 2. Oscar McCoy ------ $100.00 After some discussion, it was suggested that this matter be re- ferred to the Law �, Order Committee and to contact Oscar McCoy to see if he was still wanting to purchase the above mentioned radio, then try and work this matter out whereby it would be agreeable to all. Alderman Hedrick discussed the need of paving driveways around the City Park, then it was moved by Alderman White, seconded by Alderman Clements, that the Street Department begin as soon as possible to pave the driveways throughout the City Park. Motion carried unanimously. The City Secretary wa.s asked to read a letter received from Mr. Galen Gilbert who requested the City Council to allow Radio Station KSTV to nay for one days parking meter receipts which would allow the citizens of Erath County, and this trade territory, free parking during the 24th day of December, 1955. After dis- cussion, Mayor Clark requested City Attorney Chandler to write Mr. Gilbert a letter explaining that it would be impossible for the City to allow KSTV to use the parking meters in this manner. Opened and read at this time was a petition requesting the City to open up the East end of College Street. This was dis- cussed and referred to the Street Committee to be worked out by them. It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Ferguson, that bills and a ccounts be allowed and ordered paid. Motion carried. There being no other business at this date, the Council stood adjourned subject to the Mayor's call. A ^rST: M or. City Secretary. Stephenville, Texas November 18, 1955. The City Council met in called session on this date with Mayor Clark gnesiding and the following aldermen present: Chas. Riggins, Jim Farr, J. W. Clements, Herman Ferguson and Doyle White. Chief of Police Moore attended the meeting. Mr. Homer Stephen reported that he had returned the Ballot Box and that all Election Papers were in order. It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman Clements, that the Mayor appoint a committee to canvass the City Election Returns. The motion carried unanimously, and the Mayor appointed Aldermen Farr, Riggins and White as this committee, said committee reported the returns in order. It was then moved by alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman Clements, that the Elections Returns and payroll for holding elec- tion be approved. Motion carried unnnimously (said election re- turns being attached to and becoming a part of these minutes). The followin sealed bids were opened for selection of a new Police Car: 1. Motion carried. after some discussion, it was suggested and agreed that Alderman White be allowed to go ahead and make all necessary ar- rang-cments to purchase and have installed a new dump bed on the new Chevrolet Truck. Stephenville, Texas November 28, 1955. The City Council met in called session on the above date with Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present: J. P. Hedrick, John Hancock, J. W. Clements, Chas. Rirgins, Dean Murray, Herman Ferguson and Jim Farr. Mayor Clark announced that the purpose of the meeting was to approve the legal papers required in selling the Sewer Tax Bonds to Rauscher, Pierce & Co. Inc. It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Fer- guson, that an ordinance by the City Council of the City of Step- henville, Texas, authorizing the issuance of $150,000.00 Sewer Improvement & extension Bonds, series 1955; providing for the 72 levy, assessment and collection of a tax sufficient to pay the in- terest on said bonds, and to create a sinking fund for the redemption thereof at maturity; prescribing the form of bond; and ordaining other = atters relating to the s1ibject, be passed (said ordinance being attached to and becoming a part of these minutes).
