CITY OF STEPHENVILLE A
On this the A day of October, 55, the City Council of
the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened i Meeting, at the
regular meeting place, with the following members present, to -wit:
Henry Clark, Mayor,
J. W. Clements,
Dean Murray,
J. P. Hedrick,
J. D. Farr, Jr.,
Aldermen,
Doyle White,
Charles Riggins,
John Hancock,
J. Herman Ferguson,
Rex H. Cates, C' Secrets. ,
and with the following absent: L" ,
constituting a quorum of the City Eouncil, at which time the following
proceedings were had:
Alderma introduced a resolution and made a
motion that it be adopted. The motion was seconded by Alderman
The motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution prevailed by the
following vote:
AYES: Aldermen Clements, Murray, Hedrick, Farr, White,
Riggins, Hancock and Ferguson and Mayor Clark.
NOES: None.
The resolution is as follows:
A RESOLUTION
CALLING AN ELECTION ON THE QUESTION OF THE
ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT AND
EXTENSION TAX BONDS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas,
deems it advisable to issue the bonds of the said City for the purposes
hereinafter mentioned;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE) TEXAS:

1. That an election be held in said City of Stephenville,
Texas, on the 12th day of November, 1955) at which election the following
proposition shall be submitted:
"Shall the City Council of the City of Stephenville,
Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said City in the amount
of $150,000.00, maturing serially in such installments as may be
fixed by the City Council, the maximum maturity date being not
more than Twenty (20) years from their date, and bearing interest
at a rate not to exceed Three and one-fourth (3-1/4%) per cent
per annum, and to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest
as it accrues and principal as it natures on said issue of bonds,
for the purpose of improving and extending the Sewer System of
said City, as authorized by the Constitution and laws of the State
of Texas."
2. That said election shall be held at the old City Hall,
within said City, and the following named persons are hereby appointed
directors of said election:
Homer Stephen, Presiding Judge,
Assistant Judge,
Cle rk,
3. The said election shall be held under the provisions of
Chapter 1, Title 22 of the Revised Civil Statutes of 1925, as amended,
including the provisions of Article 704, as amended by Chapter 382, passed
at the First Called Session of the Forty Fourth Legislature, and only legally
qualified electors who own taxable property in the City and who have duly
rendered the same for taxation shall be qualified to vote.
4. The ballots for said election shall have written or
printed thereon the following:
"FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT
AND EXTENSION BONDS"
"AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT
AND EXTENSION BONDS"
Each voter shall mark out with black ink or black pencil
one of the above expressions, thus leaving the other as indicating his vote
on the proposition.
5. A substantial copy of this resolution signed by the Mayor
of said City and attested by the City Secretary shall serve as proper notice

of said election. Notice shall be given in accordance with Article 704,
Revised Civil Statutes of 1925, as amended by Chapter 382, passed at the
First Called Session of the Forty Fourth Legislature, supra. The Mayor
is authorized and directed to have a copy of said notice posted at the City
Hall and at two other public places within said City not less than fifteen
days prior to the date fixed for holding said election. He shall also cause
said notice to be published on the same day in each of two successive weeks
in a newspaper of general circulation published within the City of Stephenville,
The date of the first publication to be not less than fourteen days prior to
the date set for said election. Except as otherwise provided in said
Article 704, as amended, the manner of holding said election shall be
governed by the laws governing general elections.

I, the undersigned, City Secretary of the City of Stephenville,
Texas, do hereby certify that the above and foregoing is a true, full and
correct copy of a resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of
Stephenville, Texa , (and of the minutes pertaining thereto) on the
day of , 1955, calling an election on the question of the
issuance of Sewer System Improvement and Extension Tax Bonds, which resolution
is of record in the minutes of said City Council.
