June 11, 1955.
The City Council met in a called session on this date with
R.ayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present: Chas.
3iggins, Jim Farr, J. P. Hedrick, Herman Ferguson, J. W. Clements
and Doyle White.
The Council allowed Mr. W. W. Goodwin of the Shaw Equipment
Co. and Mr. Jack Woodruff of Darr Equipment Co. each to discuss their
machines and any propsoition they :night have to offer the City be-
fore the Council decided to purchase a motor grader.
After some discussion, it was moved by Alderman White, seconded
by Alderman Riggins, that the City purchase one r 12 Caterpillar
Motor Grader from Darr Equipment Co. at a total cost of $12,000.00
fob Stephenville, and the City to keep their old scarifier to be in-
stalled on the new machine free of charge by Darr Equipment Co. and
all necessary new parts needed for installation to be furnished by
them. Motion carried.
The Council again discussed the hiring of an engineer to make
a comprehensive sewer survey for the City and took the following
action:
It was moved by Alderman Farr, seconded by Alderman Riggins,
that the City hire Mr. Charles Yantis on the basis of $2,000.00 to
prepare maps for the City showing existing sewer lines, showing
sewer facilities needed to take care of the area not now being
served, and facilities needed for future development along with
cost estimates of providing facilities. Such work to be complete
on or before September 1, 1955. Motion carried.
It was moved by Alderman White, seconded by Alderman Farr,
that the City hire J. E. Redden at 675.00 per month to be paid out
of the R. & B. Fund. Motion carried.
Paving of W. Frey Street from Chamberlin School to new Stadium
Drive was discussed by Alderman White. At this time it was suggested
that the paving of W. Frey Street be temporartly delayed until sewer
and water mains can be extended up this street.
Bids were received and opened from the following for painting
auction barn at City Park:
1. Virgil Dickerson. 2. Joe 1•lood. 3. J. C. Saul. 4. Harlan
Huey.
After discussion, it was moved by Alderman White, seconded by
Alderman Clements, that the City accept Joe 'Wood's bid of y$452.00,
and to use Sherwin Williams paint with brush and two coats on the
auction barn. Motion carried unanimously.
