City of Stephenville - City Council
Tuesday, September 12, 2017, 5:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened on September 12, 2017, at 5:30 p.m.,
in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 298 West Washington Street, for the purpose of a Special Business
Meeting, with the meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, time,
place and subject thereof, having been posted as prescribed by Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's
Texas Codes Annotated, with the following members present, to wit:

Call to Order
Mayor Weldon called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
II. Public Hearing on the Proposed 2017 Tax Rate
Mayor Weldon opened the public hearing at 5:30 p.m.
No one came forward to speak in favor of, or opposition to, the proposed 2017 tax rate.
Mayor Weldon closed the public hearing at 5:31 p.m.
III. Public Hearing on the Proposed FY2017-2018 Budget
Mayor Weldon opened the public hearing at 5:31 p.m..
Greg Bruner came forward to speak on behalf of the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce. He
expressed his appreciation to the council and the staff for the work session held on August 31
and the opportunity to ask and answer questions. Mr. Bruner asked that the city continue to
fund the Chamber of Commerce at $0.04 as they have done in years past.
Mayor Weldon closed the public hearing at 5:35.
IV. Adopt the FY2017-2018 Budget
MOTION BY Alan Nix, second by Mark McClinton, to fund the Chamber of Commerce for
twelve months, with a contract for services being finalized within six months.

MOTION TO AMEND by Brady Pendleton, second by Sherry Zachery, by striking twelve months
and six months and replacing them with three months. MOTION TO AMEND CARRIED, Alan
Nix and Mark McClinton casting opposing votes.
MOTION to fund the Chamber of Commerce for three months, with a contract for services
being finalized within three months. MOTION CARRIED, Alan Nix and Mark McClinton casting
opposing votes.
MOTION by Brandy Pendleton, second by Mark McClinton to adopt the 2017-2018 Budget
with the adjustments approved by previous motions. MOTION CARRIED, Alan Nix casting an
opposing vote.
V. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
