COUNCIL DISCUSSION:
- 59 -
Mayor George Swearingen said he was against the budget for two reasons:
(1) he does not feel the City needs two attorneys
(2) he does not feel a salary increase of 5.9% is justified.
Councilmember Jim McSwain said he was for the budget because he felt that
we have two attorneys cheaper than most cities pay for one. Also, the
employees of the City of Stephenville do the work that other cities do
with fewer employees. The employees of the City of Stephenville went two
years without a raise. The Council agreed to a 3-year salary program and
he feels the City should stay with the program as promised.
