March 2, 1961.
The City Council met in called session on this date with Mayor Evans presiding
and the following aldermen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Chas. Riggins,
Burl Lawrence, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson, Scott D. Reed and J. P. Hedrick.
A representative of Rauscher- Pierce Co. appeared before the Council and pre-
sented a resolution approving final estimate of Elm Fork Construction Company on
construction of water works improvements.
It was moved by Alderman Riggins, seconded by Alderman Graves, to adopt this
resolution. Motion carried. (Said resolution being attached to and becoming a
part of these minutes).
It was moved by Alderman Reed, seconded by Alderman Dickerson, that the follow-
ing notice be published:
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE REFUNDING BONDS
Notice is hereby given that on the 4th day of April, 1961, the City Council
of the City of Stephenville, Texas, will pass an ordinance authorizing the issuance
of Refunding Bonds in the amount of One Hundred Seventy -five Thousand ($175,000.00)
Dollars, bearing,interest at a rate not to exceed 421 % per annum, maturing serially
in such installments and during such years as may be determined by the City Council,
the maximum maturity or final maturity to be not later than December 31, 1973', for
the purpose of taking up, cancelling, refunding and in lieu of like amount of in-
terest bearing time warrants, described as follows:
City of Stephenville Water Works Improvement Warrants, Series 1960, dated
April 1, 1960, numbered 1 to 175, both inclusive, of the denomination of $1000.00
each, aggregating 0175,000.00, bearing interest at the rate of 4 3/4% per annum,
and maturing serially on April 1 in each of the years 1962 to 1970 both inclusive.
Motion for the above carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Dickerson, seconded by Alderman Lawrence, to send
a telegram to Representative H. A. Leaverton expressing the Council's oppos ition
to H. B. 73, a bill relating to Firemen's Pensions. Motion carried, unanimously.
The Council also agreed to run an ad in the local paper outlining their
reasons for endorsing the proposed City Charter and asking citizens to support
this proposed charter. The advertisement will be paid for by members of the Council
and will not come out of City funds.
There being no other- business at this time, the Council stood adj
