September 8, 1960.
The City Council met in called session on this date with Mayor Evans presiding
and the following aldermen present:
Virgil Dickerson, Chas. Riggins, Burl Lawrence, Albert Graves, Raymond Andersaa,
and Scott D. Reed.
Mr. Allan Tucker, of Rauscher, Pierce &.Co., appeared before the Council and
presented resolutions approving Estimate # 2 of the City Electric Company, and final
Estimate of Texas Water Wells Inc.
It was moved by Alderman Dickerson,.seconded by Alderman Graves, to adopt a
resolution approving Estimate # Z of City Electric Company on construction of Water
Works Improvements. Motion carried (said ordinance being attached to and becoming
a part of these minutes).
It was moved by Alderman Reed, ,seconded by Alderman Riggins, to adopt a res-
olution approving final Estimate of Texas Water Wells Inc. on construction of Water
Works Improvements. Motion carried,(said ordinance being attached to and becoming
a part of these minutes).
There being no other business at this time, the Counci stood journed sub-
ject to the Mayor's call.

AN ORDINANCE THAT KING'S 1956 MAP OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE PREPARED BY KING
ABSTRACT COMPANY AT THE REQUEST OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE AND IN USE BY THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE FOR TAX AND OTHER PURPOSES SINCE SAME WAS SO PREPARED AND
DELIVERED TO THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE BE HEREBY DECLARED AS THE OFFICIAL MAP
OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE AND A TRUE AND CORRECT COPY OF SAME TOGETHER WITH
THE TRUE AND CORRECT COPY OF THIS ORDINANCE BE RECORDED IN THE OFFICE OF THE
COUNTY CLERK OF ERATH COUNTY, TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE:
Section One
That King's 1956 Map of the City of Stephenville, Texas, prepared by
King Abstract Company and paid for by the City of Stephenville and which has
been used for tax purposes by the City of Stephenville since same was delivered
to the City of Stephenville be and same is hereby declared to be the official
map of the City of Stephenville and to have been the official map of the City
of Stephenville since same was prepared by King Abstract Company.
Section Two
A true and correct copy or duplicate of King's 1956 Map of the City of
Stephenville together with a certified copy of this ordinance shall be delivered
to the office of the county Clerk of Erath County, Texas, and there filed for
record and there left to remain as a part of the official records of said office
and the City Secretary is directed to carry out this filing and recording.

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT THE OFFICE OF TAX ASSESSOR AND COLLECTOR OF THE CITY
SHALL BE FILLED BY SOME PERSON OTHER THAN THE PERSON HOLDING OFFICE OF CITY
SECRETARY; MAKING OFFICE A PART OF CITY SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR
BOND AND FOR DESIGNATION BY CITY SECRETARY OF DEPUTY TAX ASSESSOR AND COLLECTOR;
PROVIDING FOR HIS BOND AND DECLARING EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE:
Section One
The office of Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Stephenville shall
be filled by some person other than the person occupying the office of City Secre-
tary.of:the: City: of StephenviIto,' but ,the.:officecoftTax�:Assessor. and Collector of
the City of Stephenville shall be included in the department over which the City
Secretary is department head, and the tax assessor and collector shall be respon-
sible to the City Secretary and shall serve under his supervision.
Section Two
The office of tax assessor and collector shall be filled by appointment
of the City Council which shall fix the salary of such office. The person appoint -
ed may be removed by the City Council.
Section Three
The City Secretary may appoint from the department which he heads some
person as deputy assessor and collector of taxes, who shall have the authority to
issue tax receipts and certificates under the supervision of the assessor and
collector of taxes and also issue such receipts and certificates in the absence
of the assessor and collector from the office. That part of Art. 32 -A which pro-
vides that the office of Deputy assessor and collector shall be filled by appoint-
ment of the City Council is hereby repealed but no other portion of said article
is affected hereby.
Section Four
The assessor and collector of taxes of the City of Stephenville shall
execute a bond for the faithful performance of his duties and for the accounting
for all moneys which come into his hands, which bond is subject to the approval
of the City Council. Such bond shall be in the sum of $ If such
bond is executed with a corporate surety, the City will pay t e premium charged
therefor.
Section Five
The person designated deputy assessor and collector of taxes shall execute
a bond in the sum of $ conditioned, upon the faithful performance
of his duties and the accounting of all funds coming into his hands. This bond
shall be subject to the approval of the City Council. If such bond is executed
with a corporate surety, the City shall pay the premium charged for the bond.
Section Six
It being to the best interests of the City that the office of assessor
and collector of taxes of the City of Stephenville be immediately filled creates
an imperative public necessity that this ordinance go into effect immediately
and any provisions to the contrary are hereby suspended.
