May 10, 1960.
The City Council met in called session on this date with Mayor Evans presiding
and the following aldermen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Chas. Riggins,
Burl Lawrence, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson, Scott D. Reed and J. P. Hedrick.
Water Supt. Gann, Chief Cornell and City Atty. Chandler were present.
Mr. Allan Tucker, of Rauscher- Pierce Co., appeared before the Council and pre -
sented an ordinance approving Estimate # 2 of C. E. Gunter; Estimate # 1 of City
Electric Companyt and Estimate # 1 of Texas Water Wells Inc., on construction of
waterworks improvements. It was moved by Alderman Reed, seconded by Alderman Dicker-
son, that the ordinance be passed. Motion carried. (Said ordinance being attached to
and becoming a part of these minutes).
Mr. Riewe' of Homer A. Hunter Associates Consulting Engineers, appeared before
the Council and presented plans for construction of a hangar at the Airport. After,_
discussion, it was moved by Alderman Reynolds, seconded by Alderman Dickerson, to '
advertise for bids for construction of an airport hangar, bids to be opened at 6:00
P. M. on June 8th, 1960. Motion carried.
Alderman Lawrence reported the Park Committee had the following recommendations:
Mr. Chas. Kitchens, Recreation Director. Mrs. H. M. Hughes, Basket Room Attendant.
Alderman Lawrence also reported no satisfactory applications had been received for life-
guard.
It was moved by Alderman Lawrence, seconded by Alderman Hedrick, to hire Mr.
Kitchens as Recreation Director at a salary of $300.00 per month, and Mrs. H. M. Hughes
as Basket Room Attendant at a salary of $150.00 per month. Motion carried.
The Council also agreed that there will be no season tickets sold this year, that
an admission charge of .15X and .2V be made.
Alderman Iiedrick reported the Law & Order Committee has contacted the Magee -Hale
Park -O -Meter Company and they will sell the City parking meters, take an equal amount
of old meters in trade, and there will be a difference of $42.50 per meter. These
meters can be paid for as follows:
Pay in Three Equal Payments beginning December 1, 1960, and making final payment
February 1, 1961.
After discussion, it was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman Reed, to
buy 75 new parking meters under terms as set out above. Motion carried.
