The City Council met in regular meeting on the above date with Mayor Pro -Tem
Swain presiding and the following councilmen present: Mrs. Doyle White, Chas. Higgins,
W. M. Irwin, Raymond Anderson and Telefus B. Cawyer.
Others present were Dir. of Public Works Gann, St. Supt. Collins and Chief Cornell.
Messrs. Read, Jones and Harrell, owners of Funeral Homes in Stephenville and
Dublin, appeared before the Council. Mr. Reed, acting as spokesman for the group,
reported that recent legislati6n was pas sed which requires ambulance service to be
under wage and hour regulations. At present the funeral homes are operating at a
loss on ambulance service and to operate under wage and hour law will be prohibitive.
The group asked the help of the Council in solving this problem. The three funeral
homes plan to discontinue ambulance service on Setpember 30, 1966. The Council agreed

to consider this and to discuss it with members of the Commissioners Court.
Mr. Chas. Neblett Jr. appeared before the Council to discuss the rendition of
property owned by Neblett x King, located in Block 6, City Addition. Mr. Neblett
stated that the Board of Equalization set a value of x$36,000.00 w hich is an increase
of $8000.00 above last year. The Council was requested to reduce the rendition to
x$28,000.00 which is the same as for the tax year of 1965. The reason given being
that the property cannot stand a higher assessment based on income from rent and
prior appraisals made of the property. The Mayor Pro -Tem agreed to appoint a com-
mittee to meet with members of the Board of Equalization to consider Mr. Neblett's
problem. Mr. Neblett asked to be allowed to meet with the committee and board.
Councilmen Irwin, Cawyer, Riggins and Councilwoman White had nothing to report.
The City Secretary asked if the Fire Marshal had the authority to require that
9r alleys in the downtown area be cleaned up. It was determined that the Fire Marshal
has the authority.
Councilman Anderson reported nothing has been done on his committee since mem-
bers have been gone.
The City Secretary reported Republic National Insurance Company has approved the
new plan for additional coverage of City Employees, this to be effective August 1,
1966. He also reported that on August 18th the City will host members of Region 8,
Texas Municipal League, the meeting to be held at Tejas Country Club. All council
members invited to attend.
Mayor Pro -Tem Swain appointed the following as a committee to meet with Equal-
ization Board to consider tax rendition of Neblett & King property: W. M. Irwin,
Chairman, members Telefus B. Cawyer and Raymond Anderson.
The Council discussed the need to repair city streets since some streets are
going to be completely ruined if some immediate repairs are not made. It was moved
by Councilman Irwin, seconded by Councilman Cawyer, to seal coat West Frey Street
from 011ie Street to Harbin Drive. Motion carried unanimously.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stood adjourned subject
to the Mayor's call.
