The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Arthur
presiding and the following Council Members present: Don Metsgar, Garlan
Loudermilk, Charles Riggins, W. M. Irwin, Telefus Cawyer, Raymond Anderson,
and Mrs. Fred McCleskey.
Mr. Brad Thompson appeared before the Council and extended an invitation to
the Council members to visit the public school system. The School Superin-
tendent will be glad to host the Council on a tour of school facilities.
It was moved by Councilman Cawyer and seconded by Councilman Loudermilk to
adopt the following resolution:

The motion carried unanimously.
The Mayor appointed the following committees for the ensuing year:

The following were monimation for Mayor Pro Tem:

It was moved by Councilman Cawyer and seconded by Councilman Higgins that
nominations cease and that Mrs. Fred McCleskey be elected Mayor Pro Tem by
acclimation. The motion carried unanimously.
The Council discussed marking the parking spaces on the Church of Christ
parking lot, and the possibility of paving the portion of this lot owned by
the Farmers's Bank. Mayor asked the Street Committee to take care of the
marking of the lot and to negoiate with the Bank for paving of their lot for
use as public parking.
It was moved by Councilman Anderson and seconded by Councilwoman McCleskey to
accept the invitation of the school board to visit the school system. The
motion carried unanimously.
the Mayor asked Councilman Anderson, Cawyer, and Irwin to arrange for the clear-
ing of former Higginbotham Lumber Yard. property.
The Council discussed the need for additional sewer line extension and the
expansion of the water supply system. The Water Committee asked to study the
needs of the Water Department and report back to the Council.
Councilman Riggins reported that the Committee met with Commissioners Court
and explained the proposed remodeling of the Post Office Building for use as
a County Library, and asked the County to help pay the expenses.
Councilman Riggins ralso reported that the Committe recommends to go ahead
with the te
ng of the Post Office Building,as the money is
available by supplementing the present budgot.
It was moved by Councilman Riggins and seconded by Councilman Loudermilk to
go ahead and remodel the Post Office Building and that the Department of
Health, Education and Welfare be notified of these plans. The motion carried.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stood adjourned and
subiect to the Mayor's call.
