July 10, 1969
The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Arthur presiding
and the following council members present: Robert Herrin, Don Metsgar, Garland Louder-
milk, Charles Riggins, W. M. Irwin, Jack Curtis, and Raymond Anderson.
Mayor reported that the purpose of the meeting is to hear a report from the committee
on a retirement plan for city employees.
Councilman Loudermilk reported that the committee has met numerous times and made a
study of several retirement plans. The committee recomended the plan offered by
Southland Life Insurance Company.
The council discussed the Texas Municipal League retirement plan and compared it with
other plans that are available.
It was moved by Councilman Loudermilk, seconded by Councilman Curtis, to accept the
Southland Life Insurance Company retirement plan. Motion carried by a vote of 5 for
and 2 against.
The council discussed insurance on the city ambulance and it was agreed to carry
liablility insurance only. The only type of collision policy available on this type
equipment is $250.00 deductable and it was agreed not to carry the policy.
The council discussed the contract between city and county for providing emergency
ambulance service: attempt will be made to get contract signed at an early date.
The Council discussed the operation of city dump and the hours that it is now open/
Councilman Curtis stated that he and Mr. Gann will meet this afternoon and should
then have recomendations on hours that city dump will be open.
