HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-10-23 - Special City CouncilW Stephenville Stephenville, Texas October 23, 1970 The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Skipper, presiding and the following council members present: Don Metsgar, Garland Loudermilk, Doug Smithey, W. M. Irwin, Jack Curtis, Toby Stone, and Mrs. Fred McCleskey. The following bids were received for a new pickup for the street department. Sanders Tractor Company 1971 h ton International - 135 H.P. $2,121.66 Herrin Motor Company 1970 Y2 ton Ford 140 H.P. $ 2,262.78 1971 V2 ton Ford 165 H.P. 2,417.58 Parker Motor Company 1971 Dodge 140 H.P. 2,408.25 Bruner Chevrolet Co. 1970 Chev. 2,086.00 1971 Chev. 2,367.00 It was moved by Councilman Metsgar seconded by Councilman Smithey to pidchase the International P Akup. A telephone call was made to Sanders and it was found that delivery could be made in approx. 6 weeks. The motion was not voted upon. It was moved by councilman Curtis seconded by Councilman Loudermilk to purchase the 1970 Chevrolet, delivery to be made immediately. Motion carried. Councilman Metsgar asked that his vote be recorded against.the above motion. It was moved by Councilman Loudermilk seconded by Councilman Smithey to transfer form L, City Sales Tex Fund to the following: Street Improvement Warrants----- - - - - -- - -- - - - - -- $12,000.00 City Library Fund-------------------- - - - - -- - - - - -- 11,140.00 R & B Fund----------- --- ---- -- ---- -- ---- -- ---- - - - -- 40,000.00, Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Councilman Metsgar seconded by Councilman Stone to transfer from City Sales Tax Fund to following: General Fund -------------------------------------- $15,000.00 City Library Fund ------------------- . -------------- 500.00 City Street Improvement Warrants, 1967 - - -- - - - - -- 6,000.00 Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Councilman Metsgar seconded by Councilman Stone to transfer $5,000.00 from City Airport Fund to City R & B Fund. Motion carried unanimously. The Mayor submitted names of 5 persons to serve on the Board to investigate the housing needs of the City, and report to the council. It was moved by Councilman Stone, Seconded by Councilman Curtis that the following be appointed on such board: 1. Larry Baltzel 2. John Whiting 3, Mrs. Dorothy Watkins 4. R. Y Anderson 5. Bob Norwood. Motion carried Unanimously. The Council discussed the bills that city is paying at the museum. Councilwoman McCleskey voiced objections to these bills being paid out of Parks and Recreation budget.
