HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-09-14 - Special City CouncilStephenville, Texas September 14, 1971 large The City Council met in a called meeting, at 1:30 P.M. on the above date with Mayor Skipper presiding and the following members present: Charles Riggins, W. M. Irwin, Don Metsgar, Mrs. Fred McCleskey, Doug Smithey, and Garland Loudermilk. Also present was Fire f Ermer Ferguson. Final approval of traffic lights and maintenance agreement with the State Highway Dept.; for lights on Loop 195 and the entrance at Tarleton State College and lights at Loop 195 and Lillian street was discussed. It was moved by Councilman Irwin, seconded by Councilwoman McCleskey, to approve the traffic lights and maintenance agreement. The motion carried unanimously. A recommendation from City Judge, Ned Kemp was passed out to the Council. After the Council read this recommendation, it was decided to appoint W. M. Irwin and Charles Riggins to a committee to study this matter and report on it at a later date. It was moved by Councilman Irwin, seconded by Councilman Riggins, to transfer $6,000. from the City Sales Tax Fund to the Street Dept. The motion carried unanimously. Fire Chief Ferguson spoke to the Council in regards to lthe number of fires the department answered the previous 12 months inside and outside the city limits. It was reported that there were 174 calls in the city and 165 out of the city limits. Recommendations were then made as to what the City would ask4the County Commissioners Court in the way of financial aid.
