MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON
MONDAY, MARCH 21, 1983 , 1;00 P.M.
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Stephenville was called
to order by the Mayor with the following members present;
Mayor Joe .F. Cummings
Councilmen.: G. A. Swindle
John E. Pollan
and with the following members absent
and David Clayton.
Councilmen: William G. Brede
Ray Reynolds
Councilmen Charles Riggins, E. W. Ferguson,
City Administrator Kurt J. Ackermann, City Secretary Joyce Pemberton, Director
of Finance Charlene Young, Director of Public Works R, Y. Gann, Street Superintendent
Clinton Hicks and others were present.
COUNTY CLERK FOR
City Administrator Kurt Ackermann advised the Council that according to
16.03(a) Board of Directors, Texas Property Tax Laws Annotated, "An individual who
is otherwise eligible to serve on the governing board is not ineligible because of
membership on the governing body of a taxing unit."
After some discussion, Councilman Reynolds moved to submit the name of G. A.
"Pinkie" Swindle as the city's nominee for replacement of Mr. Kenneth Roberson on
the Board of Directors for the Central Appraisal District. Councilman Pollan seconded
the motion. The motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
ITEM II: CONSIDER REOUEST FROM

Mr. Gann advised the Council that a new trailer is not a budgeted item, but that
the existing trailer just broke down and cannot be repaired because the parts are not
available.
After discussion, Councilmn Swindle moved to authorize the purchase of a heavy
equipment trailer not to exceed $10,500 in cost. Councilman Reynolds seconded the
motion. The motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
There being no other business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned
at 1:20 p,m.
