MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1983 - 3:00 P.M.
A special session of the City Council of the City of Stephenville was called to
order by the Mayor with the following members present:
Mayor Joe F. Cummings Councilman Charles Riggins
Councilman G. A. Swindle Councilman E. W. Ferguson
Councilman John E. Pollan Councilman Ray Reynolds
Councilman William G. Brede
and with the following members absent: Councilman David Clayton.
City Administrator Kurt J. Ackerman, City Secretary Joyce Pemberton, City Attorney
Joseph Chandler, Director of Finance Charlene Young, Purchasing Clerk Betty Chew, and
Mr. & Mrs. George Sparkman were present.
PETITION CALLING A LOCAL OPTION ELECTION FOR
After some discussion, Councilman Swindle moved that the City Council accept the
petition calling for a local option election in the City of Stephenville for the legal-
izing of bingo and that said petition be turned over to the City Secretary for the
verification of signatures. Councilman Riggins seconded the motion. The motion carried
by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
Mayor Cummings, with the consent of the Council, set Tuesday, March 1,'1983 at
7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 354 N. Belknap, as the date, time, and
place for the Council to receive the verified petition from the City Secretary and,
if necessary, call an election for legalizing bingo within the city limits of Stephen -
ville.
ITEM II; AUTHORIZATION TO INVITE BIDS.
Councilman. Ferguson moved that the respective department heads be authorized to
invite bids for the following items:
a. Typewriter - Admin. & Acct. Dept.
b. Cash Register - Tax Dept.
Councilman Brede seconded the motion. The motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
There being no other business to come before the Council, the Mayor adjourned
the meeting.
