OF THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON
THURSDAY, JANUARY 6, 1983 - 10:00 A.M.
An emergency meeting of the City Council of the City of Stephenville was called to
order by the Mayor Pro Tem with the following members present:
Mayor Pro Tem G. A. Swindle
Councilman John E. Pollan
Councilman William G. Brede
and with the following members absent
Councilman Charles Riggins
Councilman Ray Reynolds
Councilman David Clayton
Mayor Joe F. Cunnings and E. W. Ferguson.
City Administrator Kurt J. Ackermann, City Secretary Joyce Pemberton, and Chief
Appraiser Jim Bachus were also present.
ITEM I: NOTICE OF INTENT TO SET TAX RATE IN EXCESS OF THE CALCULATED
Mayor Pro Tem Swindle advised that the first proposed tax rate of $0.2638/$100
or a 10.197 increase could not be used as Mr. Bachus has advised that the computer
will not take a 4 -digit number. Therefore, the Council can set the rate at $0.2.6.3/$100
which will be a little short of the revenue needed or at $0.26.4 /$100 which will be a
little over the needed revenue.
After discussion, Councilman Riggins moved that the proposed tax rate be set at
$0.264/$100 or a 10.30% increase for the public hearing. Councilman Clayton seconded
the motion. The motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
Councilman Pollan moved that Friday, January 14, 1983 at 3:00 p.m. in Council
Chambers at City Hall, 354 N. Belknap, be set as the date, time, and place for a
public hearing to consider the proposed tax rate of $0.264 /$100. Councilman Brede
seconded the motion. The motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
There being no other business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned
at 10:10 a.m.
