HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-09-07 Regular Meeting�7 Stephenville, Texas September 7, 1943. The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on the above date, with Mayor J. W. Clements presiding, and the following aldermen present: T. G. Funk, Reeoie Jones, Bras Cole, C. E. Martin, S. E. Richardson, T. R. Moore and C. A. McDonald. Minutes of previous meetings were read and approved. After discussing the peanut storage situation, it was moved by T. G. Funk, seconded by T. R. Moore, that the City lease the old pavilion at the City Park to T. C. Poston under the same contract as last year. Motion carried. It was moved by Bras Cole, seconded by C. A. McDonald, that the City hire W. F. Turner to audit the City accounts for the year ending August 31, 1943. Motion carried. Mr. Ben B. McCollum came before the Council and stated that it the cost of the present War Bond drive would be about $75.00. After discussion, it was moved by T. G. Funk,, seconded by C. E. Martin, that the City pay $40.00 on the various expenses. Motion: carried. It was moved by Bras.Coie; seconded by S. E. Richardson, that the City buy a $2500.00 War Bond out of the Meter Deposit Fund. The motion was carried. A supplemental plumbers ordinance, as prepared by the City Attorney, was read and after discussion, it was moved by C. A. McDonald, seconded by T. G. Funk, that the ordinance be passed and published one time in the county paper: Motion carried. (Same being hereto attached and becomes a part of these minutes).: The City Budget for the ensuing year, as recommended by the it Finance Committee, was presented for approval. It was moved by C. A. McDonald, seconded by Reecie Jones, that the City Tax Rate be set at $1,25 for the year 1943. Motion carried. It was moved by S. E. Richardson, seconded by T. G. Funk, ,that Frank Henson and Buster White be allowed $10.00 per month ,each as expenses for the use of their individual cars on City Police duty. Motion carried. Bills and accounts were read and on motion by C. A. McDonald seconded by T. G. Funk, were allowed and ordered paid.
