October 22, 1941.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in
an adjourned regular meeting on October 22, 1941. Members present
were Mayor J. W. Clements presiding, and Aldermen Dan Goodgame,
L. Higgins, Chas. Neblett Jr., C. A. McDonald, Fred McCloskey,
Doyle White, and Dan Lane.
The meeting was held in the Fire Hall with Rich Fagan, Fire
Marshal, and J. B. Cox, Fire Chief, present.
Mayor Clements advised the Council that Mrs. J. W. Moss
wanted to know if the City of Stephenville was interested in buy
ing the property south of her home and along the north side of
the City Park fence, known as the Moss Hill.

Mayor Clements stated that the main purpose of the meeting
was to discuss the need of a new Fire Truck, and that two repres-
entatives were present to submit prices privately.
Mr. J. F. Simms, with Burke & Simms Fire Equipment Co. of
San Antonio, came before the Council, gave the price of his equip-V
ment, kind of truck and how operated.
Mr. C. R. Raynes of Dallas, a representative of Seagraves
Corporation of Columbus, Ohio, gave his kind of equipment, price,!
operation etc. '
After a general discussion, it was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr,,
seconded by Fred McCloskey, that the City buy a new Fire Truck.
Motion carried.
Mr. J. F. Simms was called back before the Council and on
answering uestions Mr. Simms stated that he would build the
truck for 4200.00, complete with equipment according to plans and
specifications. It was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by
Dan Lane, that the City contract with Mr. Simms at the above pricl-
The motion was carried.
There being no further business,the Council stood adjourned
in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayor's call.
