The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in
regular session on November 4, 1940, with Mayor Clements presiding;
and the following Aldermen present: K. D. Hamilton, Chas. Neblettl
,Jr.,H. D. Barham, L. Riggins, Jack Henderson and Fred McCleskey.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
R. L. Thompson and A. V. Roberson came before the Council
asking that the City pass an ordinance governing prices to be
charged by taxicabs in the City. After discussion, the City At-
torney was instructed to draw an ordinance to cover such prices
etc.
L. B. Howard came before the Council asking that the City pay;
.part of the expense to maintain the Sewing Room. This request was
extended for further consideration.
A report of opening the street west of J. D. Herring plaee,on;!,
Frey Street, was called for. K. D. Hamilton reported that he had
nothing definite at this time in regard to the matter.

Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Chas. Neblett�,
seconded by Jack Henderson, were allowed and ordered paid. There'!
being no further business, the Council stood adjourned in an ad-
journed regular meeting, subject to the Mayor's call.

The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in ad adjourned
regular meeting on the above date, with the following members
,present: Mayor Clements, Aldermen Jack Henderson, Fred McCleskey
.`K. D. Hamilton, T. T. Oliver, Chas. Neblett Jr., L. Higgins and
H. D. Barham.
The purpose of the meeting was to hear Mr. Adlem of the Soutl
west Natural Gas Co. in regard to decrease in certain gas rates.
�-� !After Mr. Adlem's talk, it was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., second4
iby K. D. Hamilton, that the gas rates offered by the Southwest
Natural Gas Co. be accepted and approved. Motion carried.
It was moved by Jack Henderson, seconded by H. D. Barham, th
,an ordinance in regard to moving houses within the City limits be
passed as read. Motion carried.
It was moved by L. Riggins, seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that
the house rent for the N. Y. A. Girls Hone be discontinued, also
that the Finance Committee and Mayor contact the Commissioner's
Court in regard to amount the City will pay to maintain the Sew-
ing Room. Motion carried. Chas. Neblett Jr. not voting.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stop
adjourned in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the call of

The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in an adjourned
egular meeting on November 26, 1940, with Mayor Clements and the ;!
Following Aldermen present: T. T. Oliver, Jack Henderson, Fred
�EcCleskey, L. Riggins and Chas. Neblett Jr.
L. W. Phillips and others came before the Council,asking that;
the Council res6idd its action in regard to concellation of house li
'.'rent for the N. Y. A. Girls Home,as taken at the meeting held on
November 7, 1940. After discussion, it was moved by Fred McCleske,
eeconded by Jack Henderson, that the City pay $10,00 per month on
house rent for N. Y. A. Home and furnish the home with free water.'
The motion was duly carried. Chas. Neblett Jr. not voting.
It was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by L. Riggins, that
;contract with the Public School be accepted in regard to street
paving on east, south and west dides of the Public School grounds„i
with provisions in contract that each unit completed by the first
of February, 1941, be paid for on February 1, 1941, and each unit
,completed after said date to be paid for at time of completion.
The motion carried.
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned.;;
