October 1, 1940.
The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular
session on October lst, 1940, with Mayor Clements and the followi.
Aldermen present: Fred McCleskey, K. D. Hamilton, Jack Henderson
H. D. Barham, T. T. Oliver, L. Riggins, Chas. Neblett Jr. and
Doyle White.
Minutes of meeting held in September were read and approved.
Judge A. B,: Young presented a petition to the Council asking
for an ordinance to prohibit hogs being kept in certain parts of
the City. After discussion, it was moved by Fred McCleakey, sec-
onded by Doyle White, that the City enforce the present nuisance
law of the City in regard to hogs being kept within the city limi
Motion carried.
Mrs. J. P. Hamilton came before the Council asking that the
City restrain J. D. Herring from closing street from Frey St.
north to her residence. This matter was referred to the street
committee.
Mr. A. V. Roberson presented a request to transfer City Bus
permit to Fount Taylor. It was moved by Jack Henderson, seconded
by Fred McCleskey, that Mr. Roberson's request be granted, and
the Mayor be authorized to execute same. Motion carried.
It was stated that Mr. G. W. Collum, Band Teacher, requested
the loan of fifty-five chairs from the City. It was moved by Jac]
Henderson, seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that the request be denied
Motion carried.
It was moved by Jack Henderson, seconded by L. Riggins, that
the City purchase fifty-five chairs for the band, to be paid from
the band fund. Motion carried.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Fred McCleskey
seconded by Jack Henderson, were allowed and ordered paid.
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned
Mayor.
