August 6, 1940.
The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in their regu
session of August 6, 1940, with Mayor J. W. Clements and the fc
lowing aldermen present: Chas. Neblett Jr., Jack Henderson, L.
Riggins, T. T. Oliver, Doyle Vohite, and Fred McCloskey.
Minutes of previous mcctings were read and approved.
Mrs. Pearl Cage appeared before the Council asking that the
City pave Washington Street from the present paving west to the
Cometary gate. After discussion, it was moved by Fred McCloskey,
seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the City pave Lillian Avenue from
the Cemetery gate north to Highway No. 10, provided property
owners will pave Washington Street from present paving to Cemetar
gate. The Motion was carried.
Mr. Ross Wolfe came before the Council asking that the City
rebuild fence around the sewer farm. It was moved by L. Riggins."
seconded by Fred McCleskey, that the request of Mr. Wolfe be
referred to the Sanitary Committee, with authority to spend $125.00
for such improvements. Motion carried.
The Delinquent Tax Roll for the year 1939 was presented for
approval by the City Tax Collector. The Finance Committee reportod
that they had examined the Delinquent Tax Roll as presented, and
had found it to be correct. It was moved by Fred McCleskey, j
seconded by L. Riggins, that the Roll be accepted and approved.
Motion carried.
It was moved by L. Riggins, seconded by Chas. Neblett Jr.,
that action in regard to oil lease on City Dump Ground be deferred.
Motion carried. -

It was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by Fred McCleske,
that the note of the Junior Chamber of Commerce against the Air -
Port Hanger be paid by the City, from the City General Fund.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by L. Higgins,
that the 1939 Delinquent tat roll be added to present contract
of Joseph A. Chandler for collection of delinquent taxes. Moti=n
carried.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Jack Henderson;
seconded by Fred McCleskey, were allow-ed and ordered paid.
Thera• being no further business, the Council stood adjourned;'
in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayorts call.
