June 19, 1940.
The City Council met in an adjourned regular meet&ng on the abov,
date with Mayor Clements and the following aldermen in attendance
Chas. Neblett Jr., Fred McCleskey, K. D. Hamilton, L. Riggins,
T. T. Oliver, Doyle Vlhite and Jack Henderson.
Mayor Clements stated that the meeting was to hear Mr. Spear
of Texas Power & Light Company in regard to combining electric
rates of the City and School exclusive of Power at City Water
Plant.
After hearing Mr. Spear, it was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr.,
seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the City include the School light i!
bills in contract as offered by Texas Power & Light, the. School
to re-emburse the City for all light bills at rate per K. W. H.
as set out in contract, provided the School Board accepted con-
tract as offered. If not, the City to accept contract not in-
cluding the School. The motion was carried.

It was moved by Fred McCloskey, seconded by L. Riggins, that,t
contract of City Water Works with Texas Power & Light be extended;)
to June 1, 1946. Motion carried.
The matter of purchase of Air -port was discussed, after which
it was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by Fred McCloskey, ij
that the City purchase the Scarbroughttraet of land for an Air-
port at $9,00 per acre, provided it was approved by the Federal
Aeronautic Commission, and lease same to John Tarleton College
for a period of one year without rent, provided the College will
move all building to this field without cost to the City. Motion1
carried.
There being nothing further to come before the Council, they;;
stood adjourned.
