The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in an adjourned[
regular meeting on June 6, 1940, with Mayor Clements presiding and
;the following aldermen present: Fred McCloskey, H. D. Barham,
Jack Henderson, Doyle White, L. Riggins, and K. D. Hamilton..
May or Clements stated that he had called the Council for the
purpose of discussing the purchase of a concrete mixer.
Mr. Beasley, salesman for Conley -Lott -Nichols Machinery Co.,
was present and was called upon to explain features of mixer sold!
by this company. After hearing Mr. Beasley and discussion of theJ
matter, it was moved by Fred McCloskey, seconded by Doyle White, !,
that the City purchase a new mixer from the above named company
for $625.00 and the old mixer. Vote on the motion was called fort
Yeas for the motion McCloskey, White, Riggins and Henderson. Noed
againat motion Hamilton and Barham. The motion was declared duly,
carried.
Mr. L. W. Phillips and others came before the Council stating
that local parties had taken an option of 200 acres of land now
owned by Mr. Scarbrough, four miles north of Stephenville, for
the purpose of establishing an air -port, and asking that the Cityi
purchase this land, provided Civil Aeronautic Engineers approve
same for an air -port. The matter was referred to the local
aeronautic committee.
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned
in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to Mayor's call.
