April 2, 1940.
The City Council of Stephenville Texas, met in regular
session on April 2, 1940, with Mayor kenry Clark presiding and the.
,following Aldermen present: Chas. Neblett Jr., Jack Henderson,
K. D.-Hamilton, Fred McCleskey, T. T. Oliver, H. D. Barham, and
L. Riggins.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Business'
was called for by the Mayor.
The election returns of the City Election held on April 2,
1940, were opened and canvassed. J. W. Clements, Doyle White, L.
Riggins, Chas. Neblett Jr., and Jack Henderson were found to have
received the highest vote. It was moved by Fred McCleskey, sec-
onded by K. D. Hamilton, that the above named be declared duly
elected to terms of office as subscribed by laws of the City of
Stephenville. Motion carried.
At this time Mayor Clark surrendered the chair to Mayor Pro-
Tem Jack Henderson, and asked to be excused.
It was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by Fred McCleskey
that the City Council extend to retiring Mayor Henry Clark their
thanks and appreciation for his services rendered the City of
Stephenville as Mayor, and as a citizen of the City, and extend to''.
him their beat wishes in the future. The motion was carried.
Mr. Grady Littleton came before the Council asking that the
City assume account of the Junior Chamber of Commerce for $278.00,
now due for one-half the cost of Air -Port. It was moved by Chas.
Neblett Jr., seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the Finance Committee
investigate the above account and report to regular Council meeting
in May. Motion carried.
The request of J. R. Moser and others in regard to the City
paying expenses of the Roque Grounds at the City Park was read,
after which it was moved by T. T. Oliver, seconded by K. D. Hamilton,
that the request of the Roque Club be rejected. Motion carried.
"Plumbers bonds of Barney Rives and Henry Sims were presented
for approval. It was moved by Fred McCleskey, seconded by K. D.
Hamilton, that such bonds be accepted and approved. Motion carrier.
It was moved by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by L. Riggins, tb*t

/� ance of State Highway Dept., on Highway 281, dated March 25y 1940,'

A request of Fort Worth Poultry and Egg Co. for easement on 1

heard, after which a motion was made by Fred McCleskey, seconded

by H. D. Barham, that the City grant this company easement as
'stated. Motion carried.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Chas. Neblett
Jr., seconded by T. T. Oliver, were allowed and ordered paid.
There being no further business, the C6tkneil stood adjourned
in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayors call..

The City Council met in an adjourned regular meeting on 5th
of April, 1940. Members present: Mayor Henry Clark; aldermen
a8. D. Hamilton, Jack Henderson, Fred McCleskey, L. Higgins, H. D.
Barham and Chas. Neblett Jr.
The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to dis-
cuss with Messrs. Stephens and Helland the prospects of carrying
out the W. P. A. Street Paving Project.
After discussion, a motion was made by Fred McCleakey, see-
,onded by L. Riggins, that the Council order paving on one block
on W. Collins Street, between property of H. L. Cappleman on the
north and J. C. Terrell and Jack Henderson on the south. Motion
carried.
There being no further business, the -Council stood adjourned
,in an adjourned meeting, subject to the Mayor's call.
