December 7, 1939.
The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in adjourned
regular meeting on the above date. Members present: Mayor Clark
H. D. Barham, Fred McCleskey, K. D. Hamilton, L. Riggins, T. T.
Oliver, Jack Henderson and Chas. Neblett Jr.
Mayor Clark stated that the meeting was to hear Steel Chair
Salesmen in regard to the purchase of chairs for the Recreation
Hall, also such other business as might come before the Counci.
Several Chair Salesmen were present and each was heard in
regard to price, demonstration etc. A motion was made by Chas.
Neblett Jr., seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that the chair of the
American Seating Company, priced at $2.14 each, be purchased,
provided satisfactory discount be allowed. Motion carried.
After consulting Mr. Benbrook, salesman for the American
(Seating aompany, it was agreed between Mr. Benbrook and the City ;
'Council that the City purchase 1500 steel chairs with the name
"Stephenville" stamped on back of each chair, at the prive of
1$2.14 each, less 2% for payment within ten days, freight prepaid,
The motion was carried. '!
Mayor Clark stated that he had been offered $3500.00 for the"
Northwest one-fourth of Block 15, being 98 x 104 feet. A motion
was made by L. Riggins, seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that the c
Council authorize Mayor Clark to sell_the above described real
estate to Mr. Bates Cox for $3500.00, to be paid iri cash. Motion''
carried.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stoo4
adjourned in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the ca 1 of'',
the Mayor.
