December 5, 1939.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in
regular session on December 5, 1939, with Mayor Henry Clark and
the following aldermen present: Chas. Neblett Jr., L. Riggins,
H. D. Barham, T. T. Oliver, K. D. Hamilton, Jack Henderson and
Fred McCleskey.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
The purchase of chairs for the Recreation Hall was discussed,',
after which a motion was made by T. T. Oliver, seconded by Free%
McCleskey, that Chas. Neblett Jr. contact steel chair representa
tives in regard to purchase of chairs. Motion carried.
Ordinances on pages 157 and 158 were read and offered for
approval. A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by
Jack Henderson, that such ordinances be passed and approved. The.
motion was carried.
A motion was made by Fred McCleskey, seconded by L. Riggins,
that T. T. Oliver have charge and arrange all programs to be held'
at the Recreation Hall. Motion carried.
Mayor Clark stated that the City had an offer for the purchase
of the Northwest one-fourth of Block 15, now owned by the City.
After discussion, a motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded
by H. D. Barham, that the Council place a price of $4000.00 on thIs
property. Motion carried.
The matter of leasing the Sewer Farm was mentioned by Fred
McCleskey, and a motion was made by Mr. McCleskey, seconded by
L. Riggins, that the contract of Mr. Ross R. Wolfe be renewed for,
a period of two years, begintLing January 1, 1940. Motion carried.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by T. T. Oliver,
seconded by Fred McCleskey, were allowed and ordered paid.
There being no further business', the Council stood adjourned,
in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayor's call.
