December 30, 1939.
The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in an adjourned''
regular meeting on December 30, 1939, with the following members
present: Mayor Clark, Jack Henderson, H. D. Barham, L. Riggins,
Chas. Neblett Jr., and Fred McCleskey.
Mayor Clark stated that the purpose of the meeting was to
consider settlement of the pending suit of Mrs. J. W. Moss et al
vs. The City of Stephenville for the recovery of land now occupied
by the City Park.
Mayor Clark told the Council that these parties had a reed
to a settlement of this suit for such land for the sum of g600.00
After discussion of this matter, a motion was made by Jack Hender-
son, seconded by Chas. Neblett Jr., that City Attorney Joseph A.
Chandler be authorized to offer $500.00 in payment in full settle
ment for the above claim, with authority to pay $600.00 if a
settlement could not be obtained for $500.00. Motion carried.
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned.
