September 5, 1939.
The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular
ion on the above date with the following members present:
�r Henry Clark, Aldermen K. D. Hamilton, Fred McCleskey, T. T.
'er, L. Riggins, Jack Henderson, H. D. Barham, Chas. Neblett J
Geo. Minter.
Mr. Rady and Mr. Helland came before the Council with propos
to do the engineering for the City Paving Project. After hearing
each of these men, a motion was made by L. Riggins, seconded by
Chas. Neblett Jr., that the Mayor and City Secretary enter into
a contract with Mr. Helland to do the engineering on this project
Motion carried.
Grad Littleton and others came before the Council asking
that the ity build stadium at the Rodeo Grounds in the City Park,
No action was taken in the matter.
Mr. Dillingham and others appeared before the Council sub-
mitting a proposition to the City to furnish gas at the gate at
20¢ per thousand ft. After hearing Mr. Dillingham and associates
a motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by L. Riggins,
that the Council go into an executive session. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by Fred
McCleskey, that the City of Stephenville submit a request to the
Railroad Commission asking the commission to set the rate and
charges of the Southwest Natural Gas Company of Stephenville,
Texas. (Copy of resolution attached). Vote on the motion was
had as follows: Yeas: Neblett, Barham, McCleskey, & Henderson.
Noes: Minter, Hamilton, Oliver, and Riggins. Due to a tie vote,
Mayor Clark voted "NO", so the motion was declared lost.
