The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular
session on the first of August, 1939, with Mayor henry Clark and
the following Aldermen present: L. RifrEins, Jack Henderson, Chas.',
?deblett Jr., Coo. "'inter, T. T. Oliver, Fred PvcCleskey and H. D.
Barham.
A letter of J. A. Johnson in regard to claim of heirs of J.
W. IYoSs to land in the City Park was read. A motion was made by
Chas. (deblett Jr., seconded by L. Rigvins, that the City Attorney
look into the matter of ownership of the property as outlined by;
Mr. Johnson. Motion carried. ii
Iiotion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by T. T. Oliver,
that agreement made between J. T. Cantrell and Yayor Clark in re-':
gard to deed to Cit1T of Stephenville of part of Block No. 93, City
Addition, be accepted and approved. Motion carried.
I+r. Grady Littleton and others care before the Council asking
that the City furnish land for the purpose of establishing an air,
port.
Yeter se.lesmen of Neptune Meter Co., viell Machinery & Supply
Co., Calumet Co., and Hersey Meter Co., were heard, after which
bids on 100 meters were filed with the FIater Committee.
Due to the late hour of the night the meeting was adjourned
to meet on August 3, 1939.

The City Council met in an adjourned regular meeting on the
above date. Those present were Yayor Clark and Aldermen Chas.
Yeblett Jr., Geo. 1171nter, Fred A.cCles'. ey, T. T. ^liver, Jack
Henderson, L. Rigs -ins and H. D. Darham.
&.inutes of meetings held in July, 1939, were read and approved.
Bills and accounts zere road and on motion by Geo. Minter,
seconded by Fred McCleskey, were allowed and ordered paid.
Jack Price and others came before the Council asking that
the City secure a Farmers Trade Lot. After discussion, a motion 'I
was made by H. D. Barham, seconded by Fred F"cClesl;ey, that the
Mayor appoint a committee to investigate the possibilities of
1 buying City Block No. 32. Motion carried.. Committee appointed:
Chas..Neblett, H. D. Barham and Jack Henderson.
The City Secretary presented the delinquent tax roll for the

,!year 1938 for annroval. A motion was made by Geo. Yinter, second✓
!by T. T. Oliver, that the Delinquent Tax Roll of 1938 be accepted)
;and approved. ;lotion carried.
E. motion .vas made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by Fred Mc -I
Clesrey, that the 1938 Delinquent Tax Roll be added to the City
Attorney's contract for collection of delinquent taxes, commissioi
to be paid as same on previous contract. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by L. riF ins,
that Ordinance setting out the City Tax Hate for the year 1939.
be pasted as read. Potion carried. (said ordinance being in
Minute Book E, page 145, and being a pert of "ese minutes).
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned
in an adjourned regular nnecting, subject to the mayor's call.
