Stephenville,
April 4, 1939.
The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular
session on the 4th of April, 1939, with the following members
present: Mayor Clark, K. D. Hamilton, R. B. Bassel, T. T. Oliver,;',
Geo. Minter, Chas. Neblett Jr., Jack Henderson, and H. D. Barham.
Mr. Shingle presented to the Council a W. P. A. Project to
build curb, sidewalk and pave streets. After discussion, motion
was made by K. D. Hamilton, and seconded by Jack Henderson, that
the City enter into contract with Secrest & Shingle to promote
such project as above mentioned guaranteeing approval of a uoh
project by the President of the United States for a fee of $20QQ00

After discussion of Zoning Ordinance, a motion was made by !j
R. B. Bassel, seconded by Chas. Neblett Jr., that the Council re-
quest the Chamber of Commerce to appoint a committee to work out
plans for a Zoning Ordinance. Motion carried.
The matter of repairs on City Hall was discussed, after which:
motion was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the
matter be referred to the Fire Committee.
Returns of the City Election held on April 4, 1939, was opened
and canvassed and the following were declared elected: Ward No. 111
Fred McCleskey; Ward No. 2, T. T. Oliver; Ward No. 3, K. D. Hamilton;
Ward No. 4, H. D. Barham.
Motion was made by K. D. Hamilton, seconded by Geo. Minter,
that Plumbers Bond of Henry Sims be accepted and approved. Motion;
carried.
Motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by H. D. Barham,
that City Water be cut off at Frank Stephens and Jess Douglas
places. Motion carried.
The matter of sale of $6500.00 of Revenue Bonds, series 1938,!
was discussed, after which motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr.,
seconded bZ Geo. Minter, that the City invest in these bonds as
follows: 4y3000.00 out of the Meter Deposit Fund; $1000.00 from
the Water Works Imp. Bond Fund;1912 Issue; and $2500.00 from the
Water Works Operating Fund. Motion carried.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Geo. Minter,
seconded by K. D. Hamilton, were allowed and ordered paid.
There being nothing else to be considered, the Council stood]
adjourned in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to t e M yorts

The City Council of the City of Stephenville met in an ad-
journed regular meeting on the above date, with Mayor Clark and
the following aldermen present: Chas. Neblett Jr., H. D. Barham,
Geo. Minter, K, D. Hamilton, Jack Henderson, and R. B. Bassel.
A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by T. T.
'Oliver, that an election be held on April 25th, 1939, for the
purpose of electing an alderman in Vvard No. 2 to fill the unex-
pired term of J. C. Holcomb, resigned. Motion carried.
Motion by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by T. T. Oliver, that
ithe Council go into an executive session. Motion carried.
A motion was made by K. D. Hamilton, seconded by T. T. Olive,
that the Ordinance in regard to furnishing water to each separate
''family in separate residences be recinded, as on page 119. Yeas
J4; Noes 2.
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned
