112. 1L\• Stephenville, Texas January 3, 1939. The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on the 3rd of January, 1939, with Mayor Henry Clark and the following Aldermen present: Chas. Neblett Jr.,Jaok Henders H. D. Barham, K. D. Hamilton, J. C. Holcomb, Geo. Minter, and R. B. Bassel. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Returns of the election held on January 3, 1939, for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a municipal band were opened and canvassed, there being 194 votes for the proposition and 58 votes against. A motion was made by Geo. Minter, seconded by J. C. Holcomb, that the results of said election be declared in favor of the proposition. Motion carried. A committee previously appointed in regard to location of Trade Ground reported that no grounds had been secured to date. Services of the committee was continued. A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by H. D. Barham, that the Tax Collector mail letter to all who are due delinquent taxes urging payment of such taxes.. -Motion carried. A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that the City purchase uniform for the Chief of Police. Motion carried. Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Geo. Minter, seconded by J. C. Holcomb, were allowed and ordered paid. There being no other business to come before the Council, a motion was made for adjournment. Dear Sir: In the matter of rendition of Mrs Carrie L Wallace, Mr Wm Arch Jones sa7s that he has acquired what is now known as Lot No.4 Block No. 20 College Heights Addition, and wishes to pay on his purchace, you may consider this letter as your authority to sub- devide this rendition and collect all taxes against this said lot at a value equal to one third of the total value as assessed against this property. Dear Sir: In the matter of rendition of Lot No. 8 Block No. 2 Miller Addition (being the property of Sam Ross deceased) will say that we find that this property has been assessed at an excessive value, therefore this letter is your authority to adjust and collect all taxes against this property at one- half value of all prior rendered values.
