Stephenville, Texas
October 4, 1938.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville met in regular
session on the 4th of October, 1938, with the following members
present: Chas. Neblett Jr., J. C. Holcomb, Geo. Minter, K. D.
Hamilton, T. T. Oliver, Jack Henderson, R. B. Bassel, and H. D.
Barham.
Mayor Clark being absent, the meeting was called to order by,',
Jack Henderson, Mayor Pro-Tem.
J. C. Jenkins and others came before the Council asking that
the City extend a two inch water lire from South Graham Street to
South City Limits on the Hico Road. This request was referred to
the ?"later Committee.
Tom Chapman registered a complaint asking that the ditch in 1
front of the Chapman residence be rock -walled and bottomed, also II
a pass -way be constructed across this ditch. This request was
referred to the Street Committee. Dick Ha:;_pton and John Oxford
also wanted the ditch fixed at the intersection of Graham and
Frey Streets. This matter was also referred to the Street Com-
mittee.
F. M. Stigler and others re -submitted a petition asking the
City Council to order an election to levy a tax to establish and
maintain a municipal band. The petition was filed subject to
examination as to qualified voters by the City Secretary.
On arrival of Mayor Clark, Jack Henderson surrendered the
meeting to the Mayor.
H. .',. Everett came before the Council asking that the City
pay a part of the house rent on the house occupied by the N. Y. A
girls project. After discussion, a motion was made by R. B. Bassel,
seconded by J. C. Holcomb, that the City employ the N. Y. A. girl0i
to the amount of $20,00 per month, this amount to be paid to Mrs.;,
Jno. Clark. The motion was carried, seven votes yea. Chas.
Neblett Jr., not voting.
A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by K. D.
Hamilton, that all action heretofore taken in regard to sale of
South half of Block 15, City Addition, as taken by the City, be
(repealed, and that the Council approve and pass resolution as
attached and being a part of these minutes. Yotion carried.
1 R. B. Bassel stated that the Soft Ball Club wished to sell
all equipment of the Club to the City at a price of $118.00,
aftOr which a motion was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded by T. T. j
Oliver, that the City purchase such equipment at the price stated,,!
o be paid from the Park funds. Yotion carried.
A motion was made by R. B. Kassel, seconded by T. T. Oliver,
t a fee of ,".50 be charged on all water bills for reconnection,
re such water has been cut off for non-payment of water bills.

The City Tax Roll for the year 1938 was presented for approval�-
