August 2, 1938.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville met in regular
session of the 2nd of August, 1938, with Mayor Henry Clark and the`:;
following aldermen present: K. D. Hamilton, T. T. Oliver, H. D.
Barham, J. C. Holcomb, Chas. Neblett Jr., Jack Henderson and Geo.
Minter.
Minutes of laat meeting were read and approved.
Mr. H. L. Kight came before the Council asking that two inch
water line be extended to curb in front of his Gin on Graham St.
This matter was referred to the Water Committee.
Mr. J. J. Adams came before the Council in regard to erection'!
of Stadium at City Park, with N. Y. A. labor. This matter was taken
under advisement by the Council.
The delinquent tax roll for the year 1937 was present for
approval by the Tax Collector, after which motion was made by J. Co
Holcomb, seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the roll be accepted and
approved. Motion carried.
The matter of insurance on the Recreation Hall was discussed
after which a motion was made by K. D. Hamilton, seconded by T. T.'
Oliver, that King & Braeuer write insurance on this building.
Motion carried.
The committee appointed to secure an option of the J. E. TriT�le
property reported that they recommend that the City secure an option
on this property, at a price of $1600.00, subject to terms agreeable
to Mr..Trikble and the City.
A motion was made by T. T. Oliver, seconded by Jack Henderson,
that the Council accept recommendation of committee in regard to
purchase of the J. E. Trimble property and instruct the City Attorney
to draw such option. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Geo. Minter, seconded by H. D. Barham,
that Mrs. Irene Long's name be placed as designer on the Corner
Stone of the Recreation Hall. Motion failed to carry.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by J. C. Holcomb, d
seconded by Geo. Minter, were allowed and ordered paid.
There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned
in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayor's c 11.
