July 50 1938.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville met in regular
session on the 5th of July, 1938, there being present Mayor Henry
Clark and the following Aldermen: T. T. Oliver, Geo. Minter, H. D�
Barham, Chas. Neblett Jr, R. B. Bassel and J. C. Holcomb.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Ed Emmitt and Mr. Carroll King came before the Council
asking that the City pay all Union Carpenters 75¢ per hour for
carpenter work done for the City. After discussion, no action was
takne in regard to the matter.
The request of Mrs. Bill Oyler Benjamin and others was heard
in regard to having gas extended to Belmont Addition. A motion
was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded by J. C. Holcomb, that the City:',
draw agreement to parties in Belmont and other additions east of
the Bosque to sign agreeing to take gas, and in event the Gas Co.
refuses to make these extentions that the City file suit against
the Gas Co. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Geo. Minter, seconde& by T. T. Oliver,
that the City Council endorse movement and petition to Federal
Government asking for free mail delivery in the City. Motion
carried.
The Depository bid of the Stephenville State Bank, for cus-
tody of City funds, was read (bid being $2.00 per annum), after
which motion was made by J. C. Holcomb, seconded by R. B. Bassel,
that such bid be accepted, subject to the required bond as deman-
ded by the City Council. Motion carried.
Bills and accounts were read and on motion by R. B. Bassel,
seconded by T. T. Oliver, were allowed and ordered paid.
There being no further business to come before the Council,
they stood adjourned in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to
the Mayor's call. _
