October 5, 1937.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville met in regular
session on the above date, with Mayor Henry Clark and the follow-
ing Aldermen present: R. B. Bassel, K. D. Hamilton, T. T. Oliver,::
J. C. Holcomb, J. 0. Blakeney, C. L. Cromwell, and Geo. Minter,
also City Attorney E. T. Chandler.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Business':.
was called for by the Mayor.
The City Tax Roll for the year 1937 was presented for approva_
by the Tax Collector. A motion was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded,
by T. T. Oliver, that the roll be accepted and approved. Motion
carried.
A bid for the Depository, for custody of the City funds, by
The Stephenville State Bank was read. A motion was made by T. T. 'I
Oliver, seconded by C. L. Cromwell, that the bid of said bank of
62.00 per year for custody of said funds be accepted. Motion
-carried.
A motion by R. B. Bassel, seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that
the Stephenville State Bank be designated as City Depository, and
;that bond of $40,000.00 of said bank be accepted and approved.
Motion carried.

The contract of Texas Power & Light Company to furnish electrl.c
power for pumping water to water tank on Tarleton Campus was read,,,
and on motion made by R. B. Bassel, seconded by Geo. Minter, that
such contract bZ approved to date of previous contract for City
%later 'Works. Motion carried.
+ A motion was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded by J. 0. Blakeney
that the City erect ten stalls at the City Park for use of the
Horse Show. Votion carried.
The matter of extension of water main on Wrest McNeill Streetl!
,was discussed, and a motion was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded byi'i
J. C. Holcomb, that 6 inch line be purchased and put down on said;',
street. Motion carried.
A motion was made by J. 0. Blakeney, seconded by C. L. Cromwea 1,
that a committee be appointed to investigate in regard to ourchasoi
!of lumber, etc., at the dance hall tip the City Park. Motion carr1rd.
Committee: J. 0. Blakeney, J. C. Holcomb and C. L. Cromwell.
A motion was made by J. 0. Blakeney, seconded by T. T. Oliver,
that due to the death of Chief of Police Harve Keith that Frank
Henson be appointed Chief of Police at a salary of $"110.00 per
month, to begin October 1, 1937. Motion carried.

Bills and accounts were read and on motion by J. 0. Blakeney,
seconded by T. T. Oliver, were allowed and ordered paid. The
Council then stood adjourned in an adjourned regular meeting, sub-
ject to the call of the Mayor.

The City Council was called together by Mayor Clark to devise
!ways to raise funds to buy uniforms for the High School Band.and
Pep Squad. Those present were: Mayor Clark, R. B. Bassel, J. C.
Holcomb, J. 0. Rlakeney, E. D. Hamilton and C. L. Cromwell.
