HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-10-06 Regular Meeting2 `/ Stephenville, Texas October 6, 1936. q it The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on October 6, 1936, with the following members ;present: Mayor Henry Clark, Aldermen K. D. Hamilton, C. L. Crom-'i well, T. T. Oliver, J. C. Holcomb, George Minter, and City Attorneiy F. T. Chandler. i The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Business was called for by the Mayor. The City Tax Roll for the year 1936 was prosonted for ap- �proval. A motion was made by George Minter, seconded by J. C. Holcomb, that the roll be accepted and approved. Motion carried.'' Returns of Municipal Bond Election held on September 7, 1936,d .were canvassed, after which a motion was made by K. D: Hamilton, ;I seconded by George .Minter, that the said returns be accepted and declared carried by vote of 227 for tho issuance of bonds, and 18'1 against the issuance of bonds. Motion was duly carried. A motion was made by C. L. Cromwell, seconded by J. C. Holco:4b, that the City Council instruct the City attorney to file suit .against the Southwest Gas Company to force said company to furnist gas to C. B. Troup and others in the South Side Addition of the i 'City. Motion carried. i J. C. Holcomb reported that the Committee previously appointed, to locate a lot for the Cheese Factory had offered Mr. Collier thgj ,required lot at a price satisfactory to Mr. Collier, subject to contract to be approved by the Committee. A motion was made by K. D. Ha.^ilton, seconded by C. L. Crom-'1 well, that the City pass an ordinance levying an occupation tax on all marble and slot machines to the amount of one-half the .amount charged by the State of Texas. Motion carried. q Bills and accounts were read and on motion by George Minter, seconded by J. C. Holcomb, were allowed and ordered paid. The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on November 4, 1936. mayor Clark, and the following .Aldermen were present: H. C. Martin, T. T. Oliver, J. 0. Blaker IC. L. Cromwell, K. D. Hamilton, R. B. Bassel, and J. C. Holcomb, :',also City Attorney E. T. Chandler. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Resolutions of the State Highway Department, as attached, were read, and on motion by J. 0. Blakeney, seconded by H. C. Martin, said resolutions were accepted and passed. Motion carries The petition of Mrs. I. H. Teel, and others, was referred to the Street Committee. The tax adjustment requestsdf Mrs. A. J. Davis and C. H. Goodwin were referred to the Finance Committee. H. C. Martin stated that Jordy Keeney had presented an acco for $61.00 as damages on his truck by the City. Motion was made !by R. B. Bassel, seconded by J. C. Holcomb, that the bill be 'allowed and ordered paid. Motion carried. A motion was made by K. D. Hamilton, seconded by J. 0. Blakeney, that the City pass an ordinance levying an occupation tax on Bowling Alleys. Motion carried. Bills and accounts were read, and on motion by J. 0. Blakene seconded by H. C.
