City of Stephenville -City Council
TUESDAY, JUNE 1391996 - 5:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened in special session on June 13, 1996,
at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 354 N. Belknap Street, with the meeting being
open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, time, place and subject thereof, having
been posted as prescribed by Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernods Texas Codes Annotated, with
the following members present, to wit:

Randy Thomas, City Attorney
L CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Pollan called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and declared a quorum present.
He CONDUCT A HEARING ON THE APPEAL OF PHILIP CRAIG SHAFFER
TO A RULING BY THE DANGEROUS BUILDINGS ABATEMENT BOARD
OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE
Mayor Pollan turned the meeting over to City Attorney Randy Thomas for the
purpose of conducting the hearing.
Randy Thomas explained that one of the purposes of this meeting is to meet the
requirements of the City's Dangerous Buildings Abatement Code which provides for
an appeal hearing to be held within fifteen days of notice of appeal which Philip Craig
Shaffer gave.
Thomas announced to the Council that Philip Craig Shaffer met with City Attorney

Thomas on this day at Thomas' office concerning this matter. Thomas has advised

Shaffer that the City has ordered a structural engineering inspection to be made of the
subject property and that the inspection would be conducted on Monday, June 17,
1996. Afterwards, when the City receives the written report from the engineer, such
action will be taken as advised in the engineer's report.
Thomas then requested that the Mayor and Council continue this matter and not
proceed with the hearing at this time.
City Administrator Don Davis informed the Council that Charles Terry from Dallas,
Texas, is the enginner who will conduct the inspection.
Motion was made and seconded to continue this matter until an inspection of the
subject building can be made. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
III. ADJOURN
There being no other business to come before the Council at this time, Mayor Pollan
adj ourned the meeting at 5 : 3 5 p . m.
