HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/19/2011 - P&Z Meeting Minutes MINUTES OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2011 – 5:30 P.M. The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Stephenville was called to order by Chairman Alisa Starbird, with the following members present: Chairman: Alisa Starbird Members: Dell Burdick Caryl Chilton Tawnya Doggett Deanna Glasgow Richard Petronis Jerry Warren Janet Whitley and with the following members absent: Matt Harpole and Metta Collier. Also attending was Director of Community Development Betty Chew, and others. ITEM I: CONSIDER FOR APPROVAL MINUTES OF THE JULY 20, 2011 MEETING. Commissioner Whitley made the motion to approve the minutes of the July 20, 2011 meeting as written. Commissioner Petronis seconded the motion. The motion carried by the following vote: AYES: All members present voted aye. NOES: None. ITEM II: CONSIDER VACATING 0.063 ACRES OUT OF NORTH RACE AVENUE RIGHT OF WAY. Betty Chew, Director of Community Development addressed the Commission stating, Johnny Watson, owner of the property at 769 North Race Avenue is requesting the City vacate and close a 0.063 acre portion of this right of way and convey it to him. Mr. Watson is the adjoining property owner. There are no electrical, natural gas, telephone, television cable, water, or sanitary sewer mains located in the right of way. The Community Development Staff recommends the 0.063 acres part of North Race Avenue right of way be vacated and be sold to the adjoining property owner, Johnny Watson. Commissioner Patronis made the motion to recommend to the City Council that the 0.063 acres of North Race Avenue right of way be vacated and be sold to the adjoining property owner, Johnny Watson. Commissioner Glasgow second the motion. The motion carried by the following vote: AYES: All members present voted aye. NOES: None. ITEM III: CONSIDER COMMENTS REGARDING AMENDING THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE BY ADDING SECTION 3.25 “PARK LAND DEDICATION”. Betty Chew, Director of Community Development addressed the Commission stating, a public hearing is scheduled to consider comments regarding amending the Subdivision Ordinance to provide requirements for “Park Land Dedication” for new residential subdivision development. The proposed “Park Land Dedication” requirements were developed by the Commission. There are currently no requirements for “Park Land Dedication” in the subdivision ordinance. Chairman Starbird opened the floor for a public hearing. THOSE IN FAVOR OF SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE AMENDMENT: None. THOSE OPPOSED TO SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE AMENDMENT: None. Chairman Starbird closed the public hearing. Commissioner Whitley made the motion to recommend to the City Council that the City of Stephenville Subdivision Ordinance be amended by adding Section 3.25 “Park Land Dedication” as presented. Commissioner Petronis second the motion. The motion carried by the following vote: AYES: All members present voted aye. NOES: None. There being no other business to come before the Commission the meeting adjourned to work session at 5:55 p.m. _______________________________________________ Alisa Starbird, Chairman
