AN ORDINANCE ADDING A PROVISION FOR TERM LIMITS TO CITY OF STEPHENVILLE CITIZEN BOARDS
AND COMMISSIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE,TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 32 Departments, Boards and Commissions, Article I
—Airport Advisory Board is hereby amended by the addition of the following section:
Sec. 32.07 Term Limits
A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three consecutive
terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for another board or
commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may appoint members to additional
terms past the term limit if no applications have been received to fill a vacancy.
SECTION 2.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 32 Departments, Boards and Commissions, Article
II—Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is hereby amended by the addition of the following section:
Sec. 32.24 Term Limits
A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three consecutive
terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for another board or
commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may appoint members to additional
terms past the term limit if no applications have been received to fill a vacancy.
SECTION 3.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 32 Departments, Boards and Commissions, Article
III—Library Advisory Board is hereby amended by the addition of the following section:
Sec. 32.39 Term Limits
A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three consecutive
terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for another board or
commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may appoint members to additional
terms past the term limit if no applications have been received to fill a vacancy.
SECTION 4.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 32 Departments, Boards and Commissions, Article
lV—Senior Citizens'Advisory Board is hereby amended by the addition of the following section:
Sec. 32.54 Term Limits
A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three consecutive
terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for another board or
-- commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may appoint members to additional
terms past the term limit if no applications have been received to fill a vacancy.
SECTION 5.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 32 Departments, Boards and Commissions, Article
V— Tourism and Visitors Bureau Advisory Board is hereby amended by the addition of the following
section:
Sec. 32.70 Term Limits
A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three consecutive
terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for another board or
commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may appoint members to additional
terms past the term limit if no applications have been received to fill a vacancy.
SECTION 6.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 154, Section 154.20.26 Planning and Zoning
Commission—Rules of Procedure, Terms of Office is hereby amended by the addition of the following:
"A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three
consecutive terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for
another board or commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may
appoint members to additional terms past the term limit if no applications have been
received to fill a vacancy."
SECTION 7.
The City of Stephenville Code of Ordinances, Chapter 154, Section 154.21.26 Board of Adjustment —
Rules of Procedure, Organization is hereby amended by the addition of the following:
"A member of this board will not be eligible for reappointment after they have served three
consecutive terms until after they have taken a one-year hiatus. Members may apply for
another board or commission without taking a one-year hiatus. The city council may
appoint members to additional terms past the term limit if no applications have been
received to fill a vacancy."
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
